The 2015 Mercedes SL is Ready to Race
Forced induction is at the heart of this superb roadster. Three powerplants are offered; two twin-turbo V8 engines and a gargantuous yet efficient twin-turbo V12 on the SL 65 AMG version. The two V8 engines develop 429hp and 530hp respectively, while the SL65's V12 boasts an impressive 621 hp. The SL 65 AMG has an impressive top speed of 300 km/h! The power is transferred to the rear wheels by a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearbox on the SL550, while the SL63 gets a SPEEDSHIFT MCT AMG unit, and the SL 65 is geared with an outstandingly sporty AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS transmission. In the fuel consumption department, the SL550 offers 13.8 L/100km in the city 9.5 L/100 km on the highway while the powerful SL 65 gets 16.7 L/100km in the city and 11.2 L/100 Km on the highway. It's not bad considering overall performance.

The Mercedes SL offers drivers a very luxurious yet very practical environment inside. The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel is inspired by competition race cars. Drivers can also create their own ambiance and environment thanks to ambient lighting that bathes the interior in pleasant, indirect light with three color options available. Moreover, the enhanced COMAND navigation includes a brand new color theme while offering Splitview, a multi-pixel system that simultaneously displays one visual to the driver and another to the passenger in order to facilitate navigation on long trips. Finally, the silver chrome and aluminum trim enhances the sportiness of the SL's upscale interior.
On the outside, fluid lines caress the aluminum-made body; those lines are designed to enhance the appearance, but they were also carefully engineered to create the best aerodynamics, without any compromises. The two distinctive air inlets on the front wings add a touch of performance, while the looks are undeniably superb. The large front bumper and the redesigned grille with specifically-designed LED headlights contribute to the unique look of the SL. The final touch: standard 19" wheels to complete this upscale appearance.
