The 2020 Mercedes C-Class offers more engine options
The BMW Series 3 offers just two engine options, starting with a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that powers this BMW with 255 hp. The M340i, the more performance-oriented model of the lineup, includes a standard 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder that produces 382 hp.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class pushes the boundaries in terms of performances and engineering. It features four advanced engines, two more than the BMW Series 3. The C 300 sedan features a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. This power is comparable to the BMW’s 3 Series 330i. However, the differences begin to emerge when the Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Class compares to the BMW M340i.
How the Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Class outperforms the BMW
The AMG C 43 features a 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder engine, which is the same as the M340i in terms of size and displacement. However, the C 43 increases horsepower to 385 and torque to 384 lb-ft, which is higher than the M340i at 369 lb-ft.
Moreover, the C-Class’s nine-speed automatic transmission offers an additional gear compared to the Series 3’s eight-speed automatic. The suspension technology in the C-Class is unrivaled which provides the driver with more control at the wheel and more driving pleasure than with any 3 Series model.
When it comes to driver and passenger space, the C-Class sedan offers more than the 3 Series sedan. It features more front headroom with a total of 1,039 mm compared to 983 mm. It also offers additional headroom for passengers sitting in the rear, with 1,039 mm compared to 955 mm for the 3 Series sedan, and 10 more mm of rear shoulder room for comfort.
