Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, 450, 53 and 63: how to find your way around

The Mercedes-Benz GLE is one of the most popular luxury SUVs on the market in the mid-size category. That's easy to understand, as buyers know how much they're getting their hands on a quality product when they trust Mercedes-Benz.

GLE 350
The 350 model is the gateway to the GLE range. Here, you'll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under the hood, with 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. A 0-100 km/h time of 7.1 seconds is claimed, so even in base configuration, you're not left without a decent level of performance. A nine-speed automatic transmission is responsible for the link between the engine and the wheels.

With the 450, the front mill is a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. It's turbocharged and equipped with a light hybrid system (EQ Boost) and offers 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The same gearbox is also used. For comparison purposes, the 0-100 km/h time is 5.7 seconds.
AMG 53
By upgrading to the first of the two AMG models, you get a more powerful version of the 6-cylinder engine. In fact, the AMG 53 also has a supercharger, which brings the output to 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. It takes only 5.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h. As for the automatic transmission, it also has nine gears, but we're talking about the SpeedShift transmission; speed is its trademark.
AMG 63 S
Finally, at the top of the hierarchy, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine sits between the front wheels. Here, excessiveness is on the menu with 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to get this model to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Amazing, when you think about it.
